I troubleshot, once my multimeter had thawed enough for me to read it, it was this:
A least the client was appropr iately mor tified. I’m appropriately patient, which I bill for.

I tossed in the fuse for free, Working outside in the cold is in the contract, but I need to see it run and start. Might as well bring it inside, better for everyone involved. (also, it was a 45 ton crane)

So many people underestimate the utility of a good multimeter and appropriate set of test leads and clamps.

I was to repair/replace the gps. It was not the problem, but I like to know why things don’t work.

I don't like to know how things work enough to brave the winters like that.

I didn’t know, still don’t as the label for the fuses was missing. I’ve learned that whatever piece of heavy equipment I’m presented with is just a big dirty car.

It’s in the contract to work outside in need be. But I won’t work on a vehicle I’ve never seen before unless it start s and runs.
